LG Shows Off a Rollup TV at CES 2018

Imagine if you could unroll your television like a poster or a map when you were ready to watch the latest episode of Stranger Things. As soon as the episode was over, you could roll your TV right back up and stick it in the corner. This might not be far from reality. At this year’s CES, LG unveiled an entrancing new prototype of a rollup television.

The 65-inch display screen descends into a stand and wraps around a roller when not in use. You can pick it up and transport it easily.

Sounds like science fiction, right? However, the trend of thinner and thinner televisions has been happening for years. In part, thanks to circuit boards in the base of the TV , televisions have gone from clunky boxes to sleek, nearly paper-thin devices that are so light that they can actually hang on a wall.
